A special master supervises a case under the order of the court to make sure the court order is being followed and reports back to the judge. A special master may serve as an adjunct for a particular case to perform adjudications or mediate. In the capacity as a special master, an Alterity neutral may also provide expertise or technical advice, coordinate cases, investigate and report on circumstances, and monitor implementation of orders or settlements.
